Faye Sterling’s Mediterranean Diet for Beginners Over 50

Neither following a trend nor using the Mediterranean diet to drop weight, Faye Sterling rejected both.

It was about longevity for her, about living with vitality, elegance, and power far into her 60s and beyond.

“I wanted to feel better, not younger,” she smiles warmly. “To be present in my own body again.” Like many women over 50, Faye had started to notice little changes including slowed digestion, fluctuations in energy, and increasing worry for her heart health.

But she decided on the simplicity of the Mediterranean way of life instead of consulting rigorous diets or extreme remedies.

She was drawn in not only by the cuisine; although the sun-drenched foods definitely appealed to her. Meals eaten slowly, fresh vegetables in the center of the plate, and a natural rhythm of exercise and rest were the philosophy.

Her everyday existence brought olive oil, grilled fish, juicy tomatoes, and crisp greens—not as chores but rather as delights.

Faye found the diet was not about sacrificing anything. It was about adding more goodness, more color, more taste, more seasonally relevant connection.

She also discovered that the meals stopped her from feeling starved, tolerant of her occasionally hectic schedule, and easy to make.

Her blood pressure rose. Her joints seemed to be looser. She felt more than anything empowered. “It’s not about young,” she says. It has to do with energy. And you can cultivate something like that at any age.
