Passionate dietitian Hannah Brooks swears on the ability of superfoods to maintain year-round immune system strength. “Life gets busy, but staying healthy shouldn’t feel like a chore,” she says with a friendly smile.
Rich in nutrients, superfoods offer a notable improvement in health. For Hannah, flavour and simplicity take front stage. Her first selections consist in:
Citrus Fruits: “My go-to are oranges, lemons, and grapefruits,” notes Hannah. Rich in vitamin C, these fruits fight off colds and help immune cell creation.
Loaded with beta-carotene and antioxidants, spinach fights illnesses. She advises throwing it in sauté for a quick side dish or smoothies.
Almonds: Hannah notes, “A handful of almonds is a lifesaver when I need a snack.” High in vitamin E, they are absolutely vital for a strong immune system.
Yoghurt: Foundation of immunity, gut health is promoted by probiotics in yoghurt. “Look for labels saying ‘live and active cultures,'” she counsels.
For Hannah, a culinary must-have is turmeric, a golden spice with anti-inflammatory action. She explains, “I sprinkle it in soups or make a turmeric latte.”
When including superfoods, Hannah stresses simplicity and harmony. “The secret is to do little, regular adjustments. Beginning with one or two superfoods, expand from there in your meals.
