Aubrey Sloan never liked the word “diet.” It felt temporary, punishing—something to be endured rather than lived.
So when her clothes started feeling snug and her energy took a dive, she didn’t want a crash plan. She wanted something that would last.
“I wasn’t looking for a ‘drop ten pounds in ten days’ kind of fix,” she explains. “I wanted to feel better in my body long-term.” Bloom Nutrition Superfood Greens Powder, Digestive Enzymes with Probiotics and Prebiotics, Gut Health
That’s when she decided to revisit the basics: lower fat intake, smaller portions, and more fiber-dense, satisfying meals.
Not because fat was the enemy—but because, for her, too much of it was making meals heavier than they needed to be. “I realized my ‘healthy’ meals were packed with oil and nuts and avocado on everything,” she says. “Delicious, yes. But not exactly light.”
Instead of eliminating fat completely, Aubrey focused on using just enough to make meals flavorful and filling. A drizzle of olive oil instead of a pour.
Half an avocado instead of a whole. She leaned into meals that were naturally low in fat—like bean-based soups, hearty salads with chickpeas, and simple vegetable stir-fries with brown rice.
The key? She didn’t feel deprived.
“I never counted calories. I just ate slowly, stayed full longer, and gave myself grace,” she says. Over a few months, the weight began to come off steadily—not dramatically, but steadily.
“And it stayed off,” she adds, “because I wasn’t on a plan. I was just… eating like myself again.”
For Aubrey, low-fat wasn’t about cutting joy out of food. It was about finding the balance she hadn’t realized she’d lost.
