Energise Your Body: Alyssa’s Strength and Flexibility Power Yoga Flow

Alyssa’s power yoga series is the ideal fit for anyone looking for a workout combining mindfulness, strength, and flexibility.

Devoted yoga student Alyssa has created a flow that increases general flexibility, tones muscles, and develops core strength. Alyssa explains, “Yoga is about connecting your body and mind; it’s more than just exercise.”

The Authority of Yoga for Flexibility and Strength

Your usual slow-paced, traditional yoga is not power yoga. This is a dynamic exercise involving many muscle groups that raises heart rate. Alyssa’s approach concentrates on poses that increase strength and concurrently targets flexibility.

Stretching the hips and enhancing balance, Warrior Pose (Virabhadrasana) tones the legs and works the core. “I love beginning my flow with the warrior pose to wake up my muscles and centre my focus,” Alyssa says.

One of the fundamental yoga poses, downward dog stretches the hamstrings and calves while increasing upper body power. Adho Mukha Svanasana “It’s fantastic for endurance and flexibility,” Alyssa notes.

Starting from plank to Chaturanga is an excellent approach to increase arm muscles and core strength. “This sequence makes my arms and abs burn, but it’s so worth it for the results,” she notes.

Focus on Flexibility

Apart from strengthening exercises, Alyssa underlines in her practice the need of flexibility. “You can’t have strength without flexibility; they work together,” she says.

  • Seated Forward Bend (Paschimottanasana): This pose stretches the back, hamstrings, and shoulders, helping to release tension. “It’s my go-to after a long day when I need to unwind,” says Alyssa.
  • Camel Pose (Ustrasana): This back-bending pose opens up the chest and stretches the front of the body, while also improving flexibility in the spine.
