Wellness for Liu is not about adhering to strict diets or trends. “I doubt in rigid diets that deny you,” she said in a recent interview.

Rather, she emphasizes moderation and balance, letting herself sensibly enjoy all kinds of food. “I love food too much to cut anything out completely,” Liu said.

Her approach is to most of the time eat entire, nutrient-dense foods and still indulge sometimes in her preferred pleasures. “All of it is about balance. I will eat a slice of cake if I want it, but I make sure my entire day is filled with good decisions.

Liu eats mostly fresh fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and whole grains. “I always aim to put lots of color on my plate,” she says.
