Yoga is about achieving balance and tranquility for Sweetie as much as about increasing flexibility.
Sweetie, a yoga teacher, combines conscious breathing with fluid motions to provide a practice that helps body and mind. “You open room for more than just flexibility when you move deliberately. You allow room for peace, Hannah says.
Beginning with breathwork
Every yoga sequence Sweetie performs starts with a few minutes of conscious breathing. Breathe deeply through your nose and then gently through your mouth. She says this basic exercise helps you focus your mind and gets ready for your flow. By concentrating on your breath, you can also develop closer connection with every movement.
Simple Stretches to Open the Body
Sweetie’s flow starts with mild stretches including seated forward folds and cat-cow. “I constantly urge my pupils to pay attention to their body. Yoga is about finding what feels nice, not about pushing till one is uncomfortable. Gradually warming your muscles, these stretches help you to enter deeper positions more easily.
Flow with Purpose
Sweetie urges you to keep present as you go through poses including triangle pose, warrior II, and downward dog. “Pay attention to how your body feels in every position. Keep linked to your breath, she advises. These motions foster strength, flexibility, and a feeling of grounding.
