Self-taught baker Sophia Young is on a quest to introduce Mediterranean flavors into your home. Her pastries are basic, filling, ideal for a last-minute sweet taste sensation.
“You don’t need sophisticated ingredients to make something amazing,” Sophia explains.
One Greek yogurt topped with walnuts and honey.
Making this traditional dessert just requires few minutes. Sophia says, “just drizzle some good-quality honey over thick Greek yogurt and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.” “It’s naturally sweet, creamy and crunchy.”
2. Orange Cake Made with Olive Oil
Sophia’s olive oil orange cake rules for a light and fragrant treat. Stir olive oil, orange zest, flour, and a little sugar. Bake till golden; then, dust with powdered sugar.
“My preferred cake to present to friends visiting is this one,” she says.
3. Stuffed Dates using almond butter.
None of these bite-sized treats call for baking. Just pit several Medjool dates, stuff them with almond butter, then sprinkle with sea salt.
Sophia says, “they’re healthier but like small caramel candies.”
Sophia’s Mediterranean-inspired sweets are quick, mouthwatering, and definitely impressive whether you’re indulging yourself or hosting visitors. “Desserts don’t have to be complicated to be special,” she explains smilingly.
