For Kaelin Rhodes, the shift from summer to fall always came with a price: the sniffles. “I used to catch every cold that went around,” she says.
“It was like clockwork once the leaves started changing.” “I wanted to build it.” Bloom Nutrition Superfood Greens Powder, Digestive Enzymes with Probiotics and Prebiotics, Gut Health
So when she went vegan two years ago, Kaelin made a point to be intentional about supporting her immune system—especially in autumn.
“I didn’t want to just hope for better health,” she explains.
She started with food. Instead of relying on supplements alone, Kaelin focused on nutrient-dense, immune-friendly meals: lentil stews packed with garlic and turmeric, roasted squash with vitamin C-rich bell peppers, and warm teas with ginger and lemon.
She added fermented foods to help balance gut health—kombucha, kimchi, and miso became staples. And she prioritized rest, hydration, and outdoor movement. “It’s not just what you eat,” she says. “It’s how you live.”
The result? Her last two fall seasons have been symptom-free.
But for Kaelin, it’s not just about avoiding colds—it’s about thriving. “When you eat with intention, your body thanks you,” she says. “Veganism gave me a framework. I gave it focus.”
